Here you see Ilan road, the oldest and best built street in the valley, (not counting the occasional pocket of genuine antiquity) nestling at the foot of the majestic Mynydd Meio. As for the pub sign, which depicts sailing boats on their moorings... well, urban legend has it that the publican, displeased with the irrelevance of the sign, complained to the painter, only to be told words to the effect: "It's the Aber Hotel isn't it? Well, that's an 'arbour." It all depends on the vowels and a knowledge of local pronounciation.
