

Religion, and especially non-conformism, was very important to the miners of South Wales. Every village had at least as many chapels as public houses. Beulah opened as a Welsh Baptist and indeed still is, but it is now also the home to Abertridwr Community Church, a Pentecostal congregation.
For some reason, it was at Beulah that my class performed our play about the Senghenydd mining disaster, way back when I was ten.
