Leaving Caerphilly heading West on the B4263, you enter a narrow valley. To your right are the last houses in Caerphilly up on a steep bank, to your left is a steep drop to the stream that flows out of the Aber Valley, Nant yr Aber. This stream meanders through Caerphilly, and eventually joins the Rhymney River near Pontypandy on the Bedwas side of the town.
Soon after the houses end, you come upon a small roadsign proclaiming the entrance to the village of Abertridwr. On the right is the 'Rock Garage', built in a disused quarry. It is owned by the Adicots whose house is just opposite.
This is the part of Abertridwr known as Graigyfedw, and just ahead on the left are some of the better examples of original housing. At a cursory glance they look like a terrace, but are in fact a mixture of detatched and semi-detatched houses.
You can continue West into the village,
you can go back to the welcome page,
